Symmetry Code

Exploring Symmetry Using the Wolfram Language

A single-session course offered on:
Tuesday, August 20, 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm
Tuesday, August 27, 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm
Saturday, September 14, 9:00 am to 12:00 pm
Sunday, September 22, 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm

Combine technology and creativity in this engaging half-day course.  Participants will learn how to use the Wolfram Language to explore symmetry computationally, then use their newfound skills to create their own symmetrical designs.  A personalized T-shirt incorporating the final design is included as a souvenir of the program, which is appropriate for 7th through 12th graders with an appropriate math background.

No prior programming experience is necessary, but completion of an algebra course with trigonometry is required.  Students must bring their own PC, Mac, Linux, or Chromebook laptop.  (Equipment may be available for loan.)

Scholarships are available for students with demonstrated financial need.

The National Museum of Mathematics extends its gratitude to BNY Mellon for its support of this exciting program.
